Girl Scout Casting Call with Playmakers
Do you know what it takes to direct and prepare for a play? Explore a play from page to stage! Whether you prefer building, painting, prop making or acting: it’s all here! Put your creativity to work in this fun filled camp. There will be a final performance for family and friends. This four day camp, brought to you by Playmakers of Baton Rouge, is taught by highly qualified instructors and is for girls only. If you are not a Girl Scout, you can still register and pay $10 extra dollars for the camp. Everyone is to bring a lunch and drink each day. Snacks will be provided.
Dates: May 27th– May 30th

Youth Company Summer Studio
Admittance into the Youth Company Summer Studio is by audition only.
Auditions held Feb.23, 2008. Please call 389-7246 to schedule you appointment.
This camp is only a part of a year round program for ages between 12-17 years. If you are between the ages of 9-11 and participated in either the 2007 Youth Company Summer Studio or in the productions of either Charlotte’s Web or The Velveteen Rabbit, you qualify to audition.
This 2-week camp is designed to prime actors for the stage by introducing them to the key tools needed for acting. Instructors Neena Kelfstrom and Chris Krejci are both graduates of LSU’s Master in Fine Arts program. The camp will begin with a focus on voice technique, posture and stage presence, stage direction, and developing a personal connection to the other actors onstage. As the camp continues, actors will explore dramatic structure and the characterization necessary for creating a role onstage.
...A little about our Youth Company Studio Instructors
Neena Kelfstrom has worked professionally as an actor, director and storyteller in Texas and Louisiana. She served as both Artistic and Executive Director for Playmakers of Baton Rouge, Inc. Neena has taught theatre as an adjunct professor at LSU and has been a volunteer reader for Louisiana Voices: Audio Book Program for the Blind. She currently works as the talented drama teacher for the Zachary Community Schools, is a storyteller with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities in the Prime Time for Reading Program and directs and acts locally. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from McMurry University and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from LSU.
Chris Krejci is a doctoral student and Board of Regents Fellow at Louisiana State University. He is currently working on his dissertation which focuses on performances in the Gulf Coast states. Originally from Victoria, Texas, he has worked for theatres and arts organizations in New York, Austin, and Victoria. He served as the director and assistant director for Playfest the nation's largest children's theatre festival, and has taught children of all ages. His original one-act plays have appeared in festivals in Austin and Los Angeles where they have received "Best of Fest" and "Wild Card" awards. Chris has also appeared in Big Love, directed plays, and served as dramaturg for several productions at LSU.

Playmakers Theatre Camps
Sessions I and II
Young performers between the ages of 6-13 years will have an exciting time exploring their creative side during this 2-week session with two highly qualified and experienced acting instructors. Students will participate in acting exercises, voice production, theatre games and improvisation exercises. Class instruction is divided into two parts which will focus on the needs of the younger and older students. The entire class will create a joint production for family and friends to enjoy on the last day of camp. Everyone is to bring a lunch, drink and snack each day. Both sessions have identical curriculum and are open to children ages 6-12 and all levels of experience. Instructors to be announced.

Refunds will not be given after May 26th for the 1st Session and June 16th for the 2nd Session if your child is unable to attend the Playmakers Theatre Camp.
Mini Theatre Camp for the
Mini Performer
Let your mini performer sing and dance their way through the summer! An experienced instructor will lead the four and five year olds in singing and dancing while focusing on listening, following directions, and working together as a group. Students find inspiration to create characters with fun costume pieces, discover confidence while singing fun songs and a chance to express their silly side in a supportive environment. There will be a performance on the last day. Your child will enjoy “kickin’ up their heels” and “singing their hearts out” in this very popular Playmakers camp! Snacks will be provided. Instructors to be announced.
