Playmakers of Baton Rouge, Inc. is Louisiana's only professional theatre dedicated to bringing quality live theatrical productions to young audiences across the state. Founded in 1982, Playmakers is proud to continue providing excellent educational and entertaining opportunities to thousands of children and adults, through the annual Summer Neighborhood Tour, Spring Elementary School Tour, Drama Classes and Camps, Season Productions including Youth Company productions, and the Wally Wise Guy Educational Safety Mini-Tour.

Playmakers Staff:

Shawn Halliday (Producing Artisitic Director) has worked in professional theatre for the past fourteen years in a variety of capacities.  He has worked as an actor at The Colorado Shakespeare Festival, The Kansas City Repertory Theatre, The Unicorn, The Coterie, Swine Palace, and Playmakers of Baton Rouge, as well as a North American tour with the Seem to Be Players.  While based in Kansas City, Shawn was a regular performer at Comedy City (a local improvisation club) and toured shows with Paul Mesner Puppets.  He has also designed and built puppets for original works in theatre and dance as well as conducted improvisation workshops for a variety of professional groups. Shawn has over ten years experience working as a scenic carpenter in several professional scene shops.  For Playmakers, he directed the spring touring productions of The Adventures of Bookman and The Phenomenal Anitomacal Adventure as well as the season productions of Rapunzel and the Witch and Click, Clack, Moo; Cows That Type. He has designed the sets for If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Sleeping Beauty, and Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. Shawn is also the Head of the Performing Arts Department at Episcopal. Shawn Halliday holds a Master of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in Acting, from Louisiana State University. 

Karli Henderson (Managing Director) has been the Business Manager for Playmakers for the last two years and has additionally functioned as the Education Director and the Administrative Assistant.  As a stage manager, Karli has worked regionally at Kansas City Rep, The New Theatre Restaurant and Shakespeare Santa Cruz.  She was also the Touring Technical Director for a national tour with the Seem-to-Be Players.  Here at home in Baton Rouge, she has been the resident production stage manager at Swine Palace for the last six seasons as well as the stage manager for the annual production of Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou.  After receiving her B.A. in theatre from LSU, Karli continued to Kansas City to obtain her M.F.A. in theatre technology from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. 

Todd Henry (Education/ Touring Director) is a graduate of the LSU Theatre Department and a rostered artist with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.  At LSU he studied under John Dennis, Walt Wilson (Shakespeare & Co), and Barry Kyle (RSC) and was seen on stage in productions including Inherit the Wind, Galileo, Summer and Smoke, Two Gents, Accidental Death of the Anarchist, The Rivals, and Merchant of Venice to name a few.  After graduation he spent 7 years in Los Angeles where he worked with such theatre companies as The Evidence Room, Blank the Dog, and LA Connection Comedy Theatre and appeared in several commercial, music video, TV and film projects.  Over the last 4 years he has been teaching throughout Baton Rouge and New Orleans and most recently served as the State Coordinator for the National Poetry Out Loud Initiative.  Todd is excited to be back in Baton Rouge and to be a part of the ever expanding arts community.
